There's some confusion surrounding this species and the two taxa N. carunculata and N. carunculata var. robusta. Here we will consider the latter two as synonyms of N. bongso, but if a coded plant is sold as N. carunculata or N. carunculata var. robusta, that will be mentioned in its notes.
