The plants from Trang remain N. mirabilis var. globosa, the plants from Phang Nga have been described in 2018 as N. orbiculata.

Notes: Marcello Catalano says: "No other species was growing around, not even the typical variety of N. mirabilis. I collected seeds that I sent to some nurseries labeled as "Trang Bizarre", as I still didn't know how to classify this plant. Plus, I took some cuttings of the most attractive specimens (a, b, 8, 9)". In October 2008 this clone was crossed with MCb and the seeds were donated to the UKCPS. Photo by MC.
