Vintage toys - Star Wars (Kenner): better IDs Published online (July 2022).
This
only
refers to the 1978-1985 action figures.
To me, the ID of the model character has precedence over the ID of the cardback character. Sources: rebelscum.com, Wookieepedia, banthaskull.com, RetroBlasting. Photo: wertoys.com 4-LOM (Kenner for Ep. 5 and Ep. 6): This is actually Zuckuss. The figure sold as Zuckuss is 4-LOM. Photo: synthesizerguy, eBay AT-AT Commander (Kenner
for Ep. 5): Maximilian Veers.
Even if the cardback only shows the AT-AT, nobody else in Ep. 5 wears
that uniform, nor are there other AT-AT commanders.

(Kenner for Ep. 5 and Ep. 6): Helder
Spinoza. The cardback shows another character, Pedar
Solardo.

(Kenner for Ep. 5 and Ep. 6): Jell
Spiel. The
other pilot in Ep. 5 has a moustache and he's called Duncan Hikmat.
Photo: sxcco.com Death Squad Commander
(Kenner for Ep. 4) or Star
Destroyer Commander
(Kenner for Ep. 5): Nameless Imperial
Fleet Trooper. The uniform has the wrong color, it should
be black.

for Ep. 5 and Ep. 6):
Possibly Maximilian
Veers. The uniform has the wrong color, it should be grey.
The
cardback shows Veers, but there's no proof that Veers was the model
used to create the figure.

for Ep. 5):
This could be a nameless. Three characters have been alternatively
thought to have served as models for the figure: Ledick Firest, Jeroen
Webb and Bren Derlin. Webb is on the cardback but he has no moustache,
so he wasn't the model. Also, banthaskull.com
proposed another two options and he might well be right.

(Kenner for Ep. 5): Nameless? From an
unknown model, the paint job says Echo
Base deck officer, but sculpt
and cardback say rebel soldier.
Photo: rawstarwars, Etsy Snaggletooth (Kenner
for Ep. 4):
To me, this is Takeel.
In the
cantina scene, there were two Snivvian brothers, Takeel and Zutton. The
two are often confused (by fans and
by Kenner), and Leland Chee has clarified: Takeel is the one with thick
hair, Zutton is the one with patchy hair. The figure has thick hair,
and there are a few BTS
shots of Takeel online that look like reference photos (for Kenner?).
Not much BTS material for Zutton. But there's no certain proof that
Takeel was the model. So, Kenner produces the (blue) Snaggletooth, and
Lucasfilm asks for a correction: it must be shorter and red. Then
Lucasfilm produces the Holyday Special, where we see a third Snivvian,
Zutmore, a female. Lucasfilm created Zutmore after Kenner
created the figure (the logo on the buckle of both is the same as the
one on the business card of Stephen Hodges, Kenner's designer), to provide a better match for the
latter. That's why the cardback shows Zutmore. So, if you follow the
cardback, the figure is Zutmore, but if you follow the
original model, the figure is likely Takeel.
